This free online invoice generator lets you create professional, client-ready invoices directly in your browser — no signup, no installation and no subscription. Fill in your business details, upload your logo and signature, add line items, and the invoice preview updates live as you type. When you're happy with it, click Download PDF and the file saves straight to your device.
New here? Click Load Example and the whole form fills itself in — business details, client, four line items, tax, discount, a logo and a signature. You can see exactly what a finished invoice looks like, then edit it or clear it and start your own.
It handles everything a standard invoice needs: multiple line items, automatic quantity × rate calculation, tax percentage, discount percentage, 18+ currencies, your business branding, and a signature block. Because everything runs locally in your browser with JavaScript, your invoice data, logo and signature never leave your device.
How to create an invoice (step by step)
- Load an example (optional but recommended the first time): Click Load Example to see a fully filled invoice, then edit it into your own.
- Enter your business details: Add your business name, address, email and phone number.
- Upload your logo and signature (optional): Click Choose Logo and Choose Signature, or simply drag and drop an image into the upload box. The logo goes to the top-left of the invoice, above your business details; the signature goes above the signature line at the bottom.
- Add client information: Fill in the client's name and address in the Bill To section.
- Set invoice info: Enter an invoice number, invoice date and due date. Today's date is filled in automatically.

- Apply tax and discount: Enter a tax percentage and/or discount percentage if applicable. The discount is applied before tax.
- Add notes or payment terms: Use the Notes / Terms field for bank details, UPI IDs, GSTIN / VAT numbers, late-fee terms or a simple thank-you.
- Download PDF: Click Download PDF and the invoice saves directly to your device. No print dialog, no extra clicks. The filename is based on your invoice number.

Who is this invoice generator for?
Anybody who needs to bill a client and doesn't want to pay for accounting software just to send a single page. It's most commonly used by:
- Freelancers — designers, developers, writers, editors and photographers billing per project or per hour.
- Small business owners — shops, cafés and local services that need a simple branded invoice.
- Contractors and tradespeople — electricians, plumbers, carpenters and cleaners billing for labour and materials.
- Consultants and coaches — anyone charging for advice, sessions or retainers.
- Tutors and teachers — private tuition billed monthly or per lesson.
- Agencies — small studios sending itemised invoices for retainers and ad-hoc work.
- Landlords — renting out property and issuing a monthly rent invoice.
- Online sellers — anyone selling on marketplaces or social media who needs a proper document.
What should a professional invoice include?
A complete invoice answers three questions: who is billing, who is being billed, and what exactly is being paid for. Here's the checklist this tool covers:
| Element | Why it matters | Where to add it |
|---|---|---|
| Business name & logo | Makes the invoice instantly recognisable and looks professional. | Your Business + Logo upload |
| Business address & contact | Required for tax records and lets clients query the invoice. | Your Business |
| Unique invoice number | Essential for your bookkeeping and for the client's records. | Invoice Info |
| Invoice date & due date | Sets the payment deadline and helps you chase late payments. | Invoice Info |
| Client name & address | Confirms who is responsible for paying. | Bill To |
| Itemised line items | Removes disputes — the client can see exactly what they're paying for. | Line Items |
| Quantity & rate | Shows how the amount was calculated. | Line Items |
| Tax / GST / VAT | Legally required in most countries and needed for the client's tax return. | Tax & Discount |
| Discount | Transparently shows any reduction you've agreed on. | Tax & Discount |
| Grand total | The single number the client actually needs to pay. | Totals |
| Payment terms | Tells the client how and when to pay — reduces late payments. | Notes / Terms |
| Signature | Adds authority and makes the invoice look official. | Signature upload |
Invoice vs. receipt vs. quotation
These three documents look similar but do very different jobs. Using the wrong one is a common cause of payment delays.
| Document | When it's sent | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Quotation | Before the work starts | "This is what the job will cost if you hire me." It's an offer, not a demand for payment. |
| Invoice | After the work is delivered | "This is what you owe me for the work already done." It requests payment by a due date. |
| Receipt | After payment is received | "I confirm I have been paid." It closes the loop and gives the client proof of payment. |
In short: quote first, invoice on delivery, receipt on payment. If you send an invoice when you meant to send a quotation, clients often sit on it because they think nothing is owed yet. If you need a matching document for the earlier stages, try our Quotation Generator or Receipt Generator.
Tips to get paid faster
- Number invoices consistently. Use a simple sequence like
2025-001,2025-002so nothing gets lost. (You can generate one with our Invoice Number Generator.) - Set a clear due date. "Due on receipt" is vague. "Due 15 March 2025" is not.
- Shorten your payment terms. Net 30 is standard, but many freelancers use Net 7 or Net 14 and get paid noticeably sooner.
- Put payment details on the invoice itself. Bank account, UPI ID, PayPal link — remove every excuse for delay.
- Add late-fee terms. A line like "2% late fee applies after the due date" is often enough to keep clients on time.
- Itemise everything. Vague invoices get queried; itemised invoices get approved.
- Brand it. A logo and signature make the document feel official rather than a thrown-together note.
- Send it as a PDF. PDFs look the same on every device and can't be edited by accident.
- Follow up politely. A short reminder a day after the due date resolves a surprising number of "I forgot" situations.
Why use a browser-based invoice generator?
Traditional invoicing software requires an account, stores your client list on someone else's server, and usually pushes you towards a paid plan the moment you need a second template. A browser-based generator does the opposite:
- No account, no email, no password. Open the page and start typing.
- Your data stays on your device. Client names, rates and your signature image are never uploaded anywhere.
- No watermarks and no branding. The PDF you download is 100% yours.
- No usage limits. Create one invoice or five hundred — it costs the same (nothing).
- Direct download. One click and the PDF is on your device — no print dialog to fiddle with.
- Works on any device. Desktop, laptop, tablet or phone, in any modern browser.
