How to merge PDF files

  1. Select or drag and drop your PDF files. Add two or more PDFs using the upload area, or click to browse your device. You can select several files at once.
  2. Arrange the files in the required order. Drag the handle on the left of each row, or use the Move Up and Move Down arrows, to set the merge order. The first file becomes the start of the merged PDF.
  3. Merge and download your combined PDF. Optionally rename the output, then click Merge PDFs. When it's done, download the merged file straight to your device.

What does this PDF Merge tool do?

This free online PDF merger combines two or more PDF files into a single document — entirely in your browser. You can add as many PDFs as you want, reorder them by dragging or with the up/down arrows, set your own output filename, and then merge them into one clean file with all pages in the order you choose.

The tool uses pdf-lib, a fast open-source JavaScript library that reads and writes PDF files directly. It copies the page objects from each source PDF into a brand-new document, preserving text, images, vector graphics, page dimensions, and orientation as they were in the originals. Because everything runs locally, your PDFs never leave your device — there is no upload, no server processing, and no data storage.

This is ideal for combining scanned documents, reports, invoices, chapters of a book, or any set of PDFs you need as a single file.

Why use this PDF Merge tool?

100% private

Custom filename

Set your own output filename before downloading. The default is merged.pdf.

Yes. Use the Move Up and Move Down arrows beside each file, or drag a file row, to set the exact order. The first file in the list becomes the start of the merged PDF. You can also sort all files alphabetically with the A–Z button.
No. The merge copies the existing page objects directly into a new document without re-rendering or recompressing them, so text, images and vector graphics stay exactly as they were in the source files.
No. Everything runs in your browser using JavaScript and the pdf-lib library. Your PDF files never leave your device — there is no server processing, no logging and no data storage. Close the tab and the files are gone.
Yes. Each page keeps its original dimensions and orientation in the merged PDF, so mixed A4, Letter, portrait and landscape pages are all preserved.
An encrypted PDF cannot be opened without its password, so its pages cannot be read and copied into the merged document. The tool marks those files as Failed. Remove the password first (for example with our PDF Unlock tool), then merge the file.
Yes. Once the page loads, the merger works without an internet connection. All processing happens locally in your browser.
There is no hard limit. You can merge as many PDFs as your browser can handle. Very large files may take longer to process, but the tool works with hundreds of pages across dozens of files.
