What does this exam countdown do?

This free online exam countdown tracks exactly how much time is left until each of your exams. Add each exam with its subject and date, and the tool shows a live countdown in days, hours, minutes, and seconds. Everything updates in real time, so you always know where you stand.

Unlike a simple days counter, this tool shows the full breakdown — not just how many days are left, but the hours, minutes, and seconds too. When an exam is days away, you see the days. When it's hours away, the hours become the focus. When it's minutes away, you see every second tick down.

Your exams are saved in your browser's local storage. They persist across page reloads and browser restarts, but they never leave your device. There's no account, no signup, and no server involved.

How to use the exam countdown

  1. Enter the subject: Type the exam name — for example, "Mathematics Final", "Physics Midterm", or "JEE Main 2026".
  2. Pick the date: Choose the exam date from the date picker.
  3. Set the time (optional): If you know the exam start time, set it. Otherwise, it defaults to 9:00 AM.
  4. Add the exam: Click "Add Exam to Countdown". The exam appears in the list with a live countdown.
  5. Add more exams: Repeat for each exam. All exams are sorted by date, so the nearest one appears first.

The countdown updates every second. When an exam passes, its card changes to show "Exam passed" and the countdown stops.

What the colors mean

Each exam card gets a colored left border and a status badge based on how much time is left:

  • Red (Urgent) — less than 3 days away. Time to focus.
  • Amber (Soon) — less than 7 days away. Keep going.
  • Green (Comfortable) — 7 days or more away. Plenty of time to prepare.
  • Gray (Past) — the exam date has passed. The card fades to show it's done.
